Having first ventured out to sea over 35 years ago, first on a yacht and then with the USCG (where he worked for 23 years from 1981), our Director of Operations Mark has saltwater coursing through his veins. He’s a stickler for maritime law and regulations, having served in these areas in particular for his country for the Coast Guard, and is our resident yacht management guru with an eye for detail. Here’s his quickfire Q&A on working at Edge Yachts…
What do you enjoy most about your job at Edge Yachts?
It is truly a pleasure to work with a team of extremely professional individuals. My colleagues are not just fellow employees but also friends.
What is it that is most challenging (in a good way) about your role?
As Director of Operations, I travel around the world visiting our clients’ vessels. Although being away from home and family is quite trying at times, the ability to visit foreign countries is wonderful.
What is the most satisfying thing about working with superyachts?
There is no other career that is similar in nature to superyacht management. I have met so many outstanding people – both crew and vendors – with whom I have had the opportunity to work.
